RETHINK ARCHITECTURE - RECYCLE PAVILION COMPETITION
Winner of honorable mention
This was a open 100 hours (5 days) competition for a temporary pavilion for the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017, published by the Danish Association of Architects.
The demand was to create a pavilion out of recycled materials. An aesthetic open architectural platform as a framework for a wide range of activities over a 5 month period.
My proposal included 200.000 recycled plastic bottles hanging in parametric curves above people. This was to give a tiny (0,3%) perspective of the amount of plastic in our oceans. Would we do more about our waste if it was hanging straight in front of our face? The color is taken from the surrounding green park, moving the landscape up into the roof.
Letting the sunshine through the green plastic creating a magical but yet toxic universe.
